We're sitting at the food court, not really talking, and I watch Kirsten while she eats. Her eyes scan around the room, resting momentarily on people but never staying in one place. No one's catching her interest today. It kind of amazes me that she can look cute while she's eating. Surely that's gotta be some kinda skill, 'cause I know I don't have it. But maybe somebody would tell me that I do. I guess that sort of thing is really in the eye of the beholder.

Her eyes freeze on someone behind me and I can't quite read her expression; her eyes have narrowed, but in the corner of her mouth is a little smile. I turn to see Nishikado and Adam, which pretty much explains things. They display their usual presumption by sitting at the empty seats at our table and Kirsten asks, "What do you guys do? Follow us around?"

"It's a free mall," Adam says, then turns to me. "Hey Clover, lend me some money. I'm starving."

I roll my eyes. "Yeah, right. Lend you money."

"Come on." He smiles at me. "What have I ever done to you?"

"How about when you were gonna peek at Kirsten in the showers today?"

Nishikado leans his elbows on the table and says, "You lie."

"That's the first thing you should know about Clover," Kirsten says, eating a french fry. "She never lies."

"Is that a fact?" Nishi leans closer to me.

"Yup," I say, eating one of my own fries.

"We didn't even try peeking," Adam tells Kirsten. "We just happened to be walking by and our eyes drifted in the direction of the changing room door. Owning a set of both dick and balls, I say it was an automatic response."

"Jesus, could you not talk about your balls? I'm trying to eat here." I reach into my pocket and yank out a ten dollar bill. "Here, go get food. Just get out of my face."

"Thanks!" He takes the money and the two of them walk toward the McDonalds, arguing the whole way:

"Hey, give me some of that."

"No! Get your own money!"

"Fuck you, that money's for both of us!"

I glance at Kirsten, who's smiling as she watches them. Our food's almost done, so I ask, "You wanna get out of here?"

"You don't wanna wait for them to get back?"

I raise an eyebrow. "Do you?"

She pauses for a moment, then says, "Nah, let's go."
